Dr. Stephen Zadravec has served 30 years in public education. Steve was appointed the Superintendent of Schools in Portsmouth, NH in 2015. Steve arrived in this role with both classroom and extensive leadership experience. During his 16 year tenure in Portsmouth, Steve served as Assistant Superintendent, Interim High School Principal, and as Superintendent. During his tenure in Portsmouth, Steve has been a strong advocate for equity and expanding opportunities for early childhood education. In addition to the Governor’s Council for Thriving Children, Steve currently serves on the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Council, and is also a member of Portsmouth Rotary Club. Steve also serves as an Adjunct Professor in Educational Leadership for Southern New Hampshire University.
Prior to coming to Portsmouth, Steve served as the Assistant Superintendent in SAU 39, representing the school districts of Amherst, Souhegan, and Mont Vernon. While in SAU 39, he also served as an Interim Elementary Principal, a Math Curriculum Coordinator, and a Middle School Math Teacher. Steve began his career teaching Middle School Math in Newmarket, NH. Steve holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University, a Master’s and CAGS degree in Educational Leadership from Plymouth State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Social Science from Keene State College.
