Jackie Cowell is Executive Director of Early Learning NH, a statewide nonprofit committed to “ensuring that all New Hampshire children have the opportunity to reach their full potential.” It achieves its mission by: supporting early learning programs, such as child care, Head Start, preschool, and afterschool, and the children and families they serve; raising awareness about the importance of the early years; championing effective early learning policy; and building public-private partnerships that promote innovation and investment to strengthen early learning in our state. The NH Womens Foundation gave Early Learning NH its 2021 Pathways to Prosperity Award for their effective child care advocacy. Ms. Cowell also serves as Executive Director of the NH Coalition for Business and Education, a non-partisan organization composed of business, education, philanthropic and public policy leaders.
After graduating from the University of Virginia, she taught high school math in the Peace Corps in Mali and then worked for five years for Save the Children in Sudan. Moving to New Hampshire in 1990, Ms. Cowell managed early childhood education programs until joining Early Learning NH in 2005. She is a recipient of the Exemplary Leadership and Community Partnership Award from the NH Division for Children, Youth and Families.
